Little Black Bag doesn't really slot into the "subscription box reviews" category -- it is so much more than that! However, it is indeed a subscription box so naturally I first had to have it and then fell in love with it.

A LBB package that included: Big Buddha satchel, Steve Madden PDA, iPhone case, makeup brush kit, and Steve Madden reindeer scarf! This was a $50 bag. It had well over $200 retail value!

This was my first LBB: A Steve Madden giant tote bag and a Benefit Cosmetics Cabana Glama kit. Retail value was around $136 for this $50 bag!

LBB has two options: A $30 bag and a $50 bag. Buyers get to choose one item from the wide selection of accessories, home items, and beauty items on the site, and the LBB site will select at least two more items for you. Don't worry if you aren't in love with the items that were selected for you: They aren't set in stone because you can trade them for something you like more.

You'll get access to the entire group of LBB buyers for trading purpose for 3 days ($30 bag) or 7 days ($50 bag). You can propose trades, or just consider the one that will inevitably come to you. No matter how much you may dislike an item, it is guaranteed that somebody out there thinks it's beautiful and they MUST have it. If you prefer to skip the trading you can just choose to ship your bag right away -- but I would recommend jumping into the trading because it's truly at least half the fun of this website. They term it a "social trading" site and it really does allow you to have such fun as you browse items, decide what to trade/not trade, and chat with others in the LBB chatroom (not required but fun -- and the chatroom is a great info source for newbies.)

The most expensive (and usually the most coveted) items on the site are the handbags. They have some gorgeous ones from makers like Steve Madden, Betsey Johnson, and Big Buddha. Some of the accessories are also especially noteworthy, such as the Betsey Johnson scarves, the Guess sunglasses, and the Steve Madden wallets & PDAs.

The beauty products on LBB are impressive quality. One of their popular beauty brands is Truth Art Beauty, and the quality of the products is outstanding! Their  Argan Face Nourish is absolutely amazing for skin and hair. This is a large bottle of 100 % pure Moroccan Argan oil, and it retails for $52 -- it is well worth opening your bag with this, it is really that good. Best LBB beauty product EVER! Another real standout is their Truth Art Beauty Aromatherapy Bath Salts, which are often in the LBB gallery. You'll also occasionally find Benefit cosmetics kits in the gallery (example: The Cabana Glama kit I got in my first LBB). Pixi brand nail polishes, BeFine products, and Michael Marcus are all regularly featured in the LBB beauty section.

LBB jewelry is something I prefer to avoid. They have a passion for very large "statement pieces" that involve copious amounts of fake metal, feathers, spikes, and the like. Occasionally they do have a whimsical little Betsey Johnson ring or necklace, but pie-plate sized earrings are more common. If you get jewelry,"trade it fast' is my motto!

LBB products are generally packaged well, especially the handbags as they often come with dustbags. The shipping on LBB is what I like to call "pack mule post".... a company called Newgistics who updates tracking rarely and tends to take 10-14 days transit time. This costs $4.95 shipping. If you want to get your LBB faster, you've got several upgrade options that are worth the investment if you have any time constraints at all.
