GlossyBox December 2012: Review and Code

With a whole plethora of beauty subscription boxes available today -- and more springing up every day! -- finding the best option can be a bit challenging. I believe in trying them all, making sure I've missed nothing, and then drawing my conclusion. After trying all of today's most popular beauty subs, and some careful consideration, I can say that, hands down, GLOSSYBOX gave us the most awesome boxes in 2012.

My favorite hot beauty sub box going into 2013 -- and the hands down winner in the "About $20" category,  is GlossyBox. GlossyBox has been a hot beauty sub box for years in other countries like Great Britain and Korea, but it only made its American debut in 2012. At $21 monthly, it is pricier than some of the other beauty sub boxes, but it's also far more high-end.

GlossyBox, put simply, is pure "spoil yourself" luxury in your mailbox every month. From the beautiful pale pink boxes (great for re-use and highly decorative) to the elegant high-end products, GlossyBox really feels like a posh gift every month. Subscribers get at least five products, all deluxe sample size or full size. The products can be anything from makeup and skincare to haircare and nail polish. Body pampering items also make occasional appearances, and most GlossyBoxes are extremely well rounded.

A recent month (December) contained a gorgeous full-size new release Zoya nail polish, an Oscar Blandi heat styling protectant spray, a large bag of Heartland Fragrance Co. bath salts, a Forest Essentials Ayurveda Replenishing Bath & Shower Oil, a deluxe sample of Issy Mikaye's new perfume, Pleats Please, and a sample of Ecru New York Acacia Protein Oil for hair. Additionally, for the first time ever, GlossyBox added a jewelry piece in a lovely black drawstring velvet pouch, courtesy of JewelMint. As all jewelry pieces there are priced at $29.99, this was quite a nice inclusion that more than paid for the box on its own.  My necklace was absolutely beautiful!

Other subscribers got rings, earrings, or bracelets. This was not a typical GlossyBox inclusion, but was a special holiday gift to subscribers. You can always expect a beauty and body-focused box each month, focused on luxury and high-end beauty companies.

Although there is some variation in boxes, subscribers always get at least three of the same items, and the other two items in the box will be either/or items. For example, I received the Oscar Blandi heat styling spray, but some people received a Mark lipstick instead.

The great product sizes, stunning packaging, and impressive retail values (My December box easily hit the $80 retail value mark) make this my current favorite beauty sub box.
