New Pet Subscription Review: DoggieLawn.com Review

DoggieLawn is a new subscription service that is designed to make pet care easier! Anyone who has ever potty trained a puppy, or who has ever had to deal with a sick dog, a geriatric dog, or with  potty breaks in nasty weather has probably wished for a better solution. When DoggieLawn contacted me to let me know about their new indoor potty system delivery service, I realized how helpful an indoor potty system could really be for dog owners.

The Doggie Lawn is made from live grass because, put simply, dog prefer to potty on live grass. Although many dogs can be trained to use pee pads, they can be messy, leaky, and are harder to entice dogs to use. This grass is not simple sod: It is hydroponically grown to create a super durable mat of roots and fertile soil. This thick base absorbs liquid and odors far more effectively than a simple layer of sod or a potty pad. The urine is  absorbed by the grass and neutralized by the natural and harmless microbes found in grass.

The grass will last anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks depending upon how heavily it's used. Remember that it's actual growing live grass, so you'll need to water it very lightly once or twice a week or so. The ideal way to use it is on an "as needed" basis. For example, place it out for your dog when the weather is too horrible to venture outside, or place it out for those days that you are stuck for 10 hours at work and can't get home to give your pup potty breaks. In my case, I placed the DoggieLawn conveniently for my super senior Flirty (she is 13.5 years old!) to use during the night. Sometimes she has potty emergencies and just can't make it outside in time, so this is a great solution. I can also see where this would be hugely helpful for anyone with puppies. Leaving it out all the time would get the pups used to using grass and make the transition outdoors so simple.

Both of my dogs immediately knew what the patch of grass was for, and it really has been a lifesaver on a couple of occasions for my girl Flirty. I've been placing it out only at nighttime and it has been going a week, with three uses. There is NO odor and the grass still looks fresh and new. (I just close the box and place it out of the way during the day or when it's not needed.)

The Doggie Lawn comes in two sizes: The Standard (24 x 20 inch lawn) and the Plus size (24 x 48 inches.) For smaller dogs and medium size dogs, the standard is plenty of room, and in fact my older greyhound girl (50 plus lbs) used the standard with ease. The Plus size has plenty of room for even the largest breeds, or for those dogs who like to roam around or circle repeatedly before pottying.

The DoggieLawn is so reasonably priced in my opinion. The subscription service can be scheduled weekly or every two weeks, and costs $15 per DoggieLawn with $10 shipping. This is a total of $25 per delivery and you can cancel anytime.

I like how the DoggieLawn customer service is so responsive, and how the site is set up to help owners succeed with implementing the lawn in their lives. The training page is very helpful!

There are also several ways to try the DoggieLawn with no subscription. The deals for new customers are as follows right now:
-One single DoggieLawn for $20 (plus $10 shipping, total $30.) If you don't plan for daily usage this might be a good way to try it out. With irregular use and proper watering your DoggieLawn can easily last up to a month, and $30 for a potty solution that lasts a whole month is great in my book!
